Fitting support vehicles prepared by bott

Two support vehicles operated by Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service have been specially prepared by bott.

The first is used by the Fire Investigation Section to visit incidents and support specialists. The second is a multipurpose vehicle which supports tasks including Community Safety and can also be used as a standby Fire Investigation or Forward Command and Control vehicle.

“Overall cost and quality were the main factors,” says George Thompson, Operational Support Centre Manager for Lothian and Borders. “bott were more concerned about the whole life cost rather than the initial invoice.” Lothian and Borders covers an extensive area of southern Scotland from 36 stations. It selected bott on factors such as cost, quality, support and location following competitive tender. bott enhanced two Vauxhall Movano vehicles at its facility in Cumbernauld.

Both vehicles were equipped with storage modules to create a well-organised interior which allowed the maximum amount of equipment to be carried. The multipurpose vehicle has removable cabinets with specialist equipment which can be swapped depending on the vehicle’s intended role. “bott were attentive to our requirements and delivered vehicles which support our specialist operations,” says George Thompson.
